Atlas of Cosmetic and Reconstructive Periodontal Surgery
Cohen E.S.
This book is a complete review of cosmetic and reconstructive periodontal surgery, with an emphasis on detailed surgical procedures. This is a second edition; the first was published in 1988. The author is trying to provide the most detailed and complete periodontal surgical atlas available. These are worthy objectives and this book is needed. I believe the author met his objectives from the standpoint of visually providing descriptions of the surgical techniques. I believe this book is ideally suited for residents in periodontics. The author does not state which level he has directed it toward but implies it is for all levels. I believe it is directed toward the senior resident or inexperienced practitioner. This book is well illustrated in black-and-white. Color may have added to the presentation. The references are current and pertinent with a well-conceived index. The diagrams and surgical photos are well presented and organized. This is a good overall review of surgical procedures practiced in reconstructive and cosmetic periodontal surgery. It would be a good tool in the hands of a resident or inexperienced practitioner. It reviews more recent developments in bony reconstruction and guided tissue regeneration, and this is very important in the new edition.
