This book focuses on changes in environmental and economic policies in six developing countries. It shows how domestic politics interact with international actors such as multilateral institutions. It offers lively accounts of the behavior of political actors, interest groups, and the civil society, particularly environmentalists. It shows how ideas such as those of neoliberal economics affect policymaking, specifically during or after crisis, and also how social protest and demands for sustainable development are mobilized.
